Everyone at SIDARA’s London flagship building benefits from assured connectivity from all the mobile operators with Freshwave’s Omni Network.
International multidisciplinary design and engineering company SIDARA decided to co-locate several of their member firms in the same building. This was to encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing between the different disciplines and enhance innovative thinking.
They knew from very early in the project’s development that an in-building mobile system would be needed. Having connectivity from all the mobile network operators was essential for facilitating collaboration between staff, as well as providing a seamless experience for visiting clients.
After evaluating a number of mobile connectivity options, including a distributed antenna system (DAS), SIDARA chose Freshwave’s Omni Network to provide 4G coverage throughout their building. Freshwave are also providing an ongoing managed service.
All aspects of 150 Holborn were designed with a purpose. Digital infrastructure, such as the building management system from Schneider Electric and the IT network from Cisco, was chosen so that it could add value both today and for many years to come. Omni Network provides a platform that SIDARA can add further applications to in the future as and when needed. This considered and long-term approach to infrastructure deployment saw the building rated Platinum for both WiredScore and SmartScore.
Omni Network uses up to 60% less energy than an active distributed antenna system

No matter which network staff or visitors are on, they have seamless mobile connectivity
As well as collaboration, another key consideration in the development of 150 Holborn was sustainability. Omni Network uses up to 60% less energy than an active DAS and didn’t require coaxial cabling, which is helping to contribute to SIDARA’s sustainability ambitions.
Data-driven insights are at the heart of SIDARA’s development. The smart building systems in the building generate 60,000 data points every five minutes. Compared with other in-building systems available on the market, Omni Network provides additional visibility in how the network is being used, helping to prove the return on the investment in indoor mobile connectivity.
Head of Technology
Throughout the development of 150 Holborn, I challenged our contractors and technology partners to meet our objectives that maximised flexibility and scalability to adapt to our ongoing changing needs as we evolve as a global business. Freshwave and their Omni Network have delivered on these. I believe in delivering technology with a purpose, not just because we can, and the mobile connectivity our staff and visitors experience adds huge value to our organisation.

Indoor Connectivity Outdoor ConnectivityIndoor small cells
An indoor small cell is a low power cellular coverage box that boosts mobile service for people in a carefully defined area inside. They’re similar in size and shape to a Wi-Fi access point.
