Freshwave, working with commercial property IT and smart building infrastructure specialists TCM, are bringing all-operator mobile connectivity to Peterborough Court, London. Located on Fleet Street, Peterborough Court is the former home of Telegraph newspapers. Built in the 1880s, it’s undergone a complete redevelopment to create high-spec grade A office space while retaining its Art Deco façade.

Connectivity infrastructure-as-a-service provider Freshwave are deploying their world-first small cell Omni Network with all the mobile network operators throughout the landlord areas. Tenants can then also opt into extending the service to their workspaces through Freshwave’s pay-as-you-occupy model. Freshwave will also provide support through their ongoing managed service.

Peterborough Court spans more than 300,000 sq ft across 11 floors and has a focus on wellbeing through the creation of outdoor spaces, on-site amenities and state-of-the-art end-of-trip facilities. It has terraces on four floors and boasts panoramic views of London.

Jason Gallehawk, Associate Director at CBRE, joint leasing agent for the building, said: “Peterborough Court represents exactly the kind of premium workspace that today’s occupiers are looking for. We’ve seen strong demand for the building and are pleased that all-operator mobile connectivity is one of the many amenities that we will be offering to occupiers. Omni Network’s lower energy use made it a natural choice, as sustainability was at the heart of this redevelopment, while still offering the same reliable, seamless coverage across all operators that tenants expect from a best-in-class London workspace.”

Tom McAuley, Managing Director at TCM, said: “Peterborough Court is an excellent example of how digital infrastructure is becoming a defining feature of premium commercial real estate. From the outset, connectivity was treated as a core building service, ensuring occupiers benefit from reliable, high-performance mobile coverage alongside the wider smart building infrastructure. We’re proud to have worked with Freshwave to deliver a future-ready solution that supports both the current and long-term needs of the building and its tenants.”

Brendan Hourihane, Senior Director at Freshwave, said: “Mobile connectivity is no longer an add-on for commercial buildings and we’re delighted to be working with CBRE and TCM to bring assured connectivity into Peterborough Court. With building materials and low-e glass blocking mobile signal from entering from outside, Omni Network extends all the mobile networks indoors so that everyone inside receives the capacity they need. We’re already seeing good uptake of the service from tenants who are moving into the building and look forward to working with more of them in the future as space in this fantastic building is snapped up.”

Phillip Bennison, Managing Director at Intense Capital Development Managers, said: “It has been a pleasure collaborating with and working up high-performance, leading-edge technology solutions with CBRE, TCM and Freshwave for our prime, 300,000+ sq ft retrofit scheme at Peterborough Court; I am thrilled to see them all in operation now that our development has completed.”

Peterborough Court’s sustainability credentials include a WiredScore Platinum rating, a target BREEAM “Excellent” or better rating, and an all-electric design that significantly reduces whole life carbon.
