Innovating beyond technology
Underpinned by one of our core values, engineering excellence, we’re known for our contribution to many technical industry firsts. With innovation in our DNA, we seek out and dedicate ourselves to working through complex problems as a specialist player in the global telecoms industry. But true innovation goes far beyond changes in technology. And though it’s an industry of huge value creation and long-term thinking, recent research* shows that within UK Telecoms:
- Gender diversity in the sector worsens with age, with 67% of those in the industry over the age of 35 being male.
- One in six of those working in the telecoms industry has a disability or long-term condition (16%), considerably lower than the proportion of those in the UK workforce who have a disability or long-term condition (26%).
- Only one in three telecoms employees are aware of their organisations having an active diversity and inclusion culture.
However, as a customer-led business and unique partner to all the UK mobile network operators, we’re committed to working together in new ways. Our business model, ethos and even company name are about embracing change for the good of the many. And we benefit first hand from a team of diverse talent which helps us take a fresh approach to established issues – a key way to be the change and lead from within.

Partners in change
As APNA clearly understands, expectations drive change. And since we pioneered in-building mobile connectivity solutions in 2016, we’ve seen and supported a huge shift in expectations around being able to use mobile phones indoors. What once was a nice to have, largely unknown resilient connectivity managed service option, is increasingly expected by our customer’s customers.
In that time, we’ve also watched first hand as digital transformation accelerates change across the NHS, whether our hospital customers are based in new campuses or established healthcare locations. Working with both kinds, we’re clear about our role as the connectivity partner bringing assured connectivity where it matters most – to patients and clinicians.
What else do you do around ESG?
We’re only a few years into our formal environmental, sustainability and governance journey and if you’d like to learn more about that you can here. However, as described above, innovation, championing our specialist workforce and reducing carbon emissions have all been part of our DNA for much longer.
