Creating a bespoke solution for the NHS with campus connectivity extensions and a 5G upgrade path.
We created a bespoke distributed antenna system (DAS) for the hospital, connecting all the UK mobile network operators and delivering improved connectivity for everyone. Now patients, clinicians and visitors to the hospital can connect with their loved ones anytime, anywhere.
Project type
We carried out essential work around the hospital’s normal operating capacity, delivering assured connectivity without disrupting operations during the Covid-19 pandemic.
55,000 sq metre site with plans for further extensions
560 beds across 15 wards
600,000 people in Wales receiving state-of-the-art healthcare services
Covering 19,500 sq ft and eight floors, our network extension to the distributed antenna system covers the new Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit. The £16 million unit provides modern facilities to clean and decontaminate operating theatre instruments used.
It provides facilities to clean and decontaminate endoscopy equipment and will be able to process robotic surgery equipment in the future.

Indoor Connectivity Outdoor ConnectivityDistributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) enhance mobile coverage in large, complex environments like stadiums, airports, and multi-building campus facilities. Whether a lead-lined wall is blocking outdoor mobile signal or the number of people trying to use their phones is too high - DAS is ideal for providing consistent, reliable connectivity in the largest, most challenging spaces and places.
